Social Activity

Wednesday, June 5 (6:45pm)

Exclusive guided visit at Royal Palace

The conference organizers have arranged a visit to a great landmark of the city of Turin, the Royal Palace, an historic palace of the House of Savoy Family. The palace was originally built in the 16th century. Besides great rooms with historic furniture and a museum, it also includes the Chapel of the Holy Shroud. In 1997, it was placed on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list. The conference attendees with FULL REGISTRATION will have exclusive access to the palace with a guided tour at night at the end of the first conference day.

The palace is located right in the city centre, hence before/after the tour it will be also possible to enjoy the other beauties of Turin.

The tour will start in the square in front of the palace at 6:45pm. No late participants will be allowed after 7pm.

Dinner alltogheter (Extra Activity - Off Program)

After the Royal Palace visit for those of you that may be interested in having dinner alltogheter will move to the "Mercato Centrale" (10 minutes walking distance from the Royal Palace). Mercato Centrale is a food court and lively gathering space hosted in a Liberty style location which offers plenty of different restaurants and fine wines tasting opportunities. Meal and drinks purchases not included in the conference registration.

Gala Dinner

Thursday, June 6 (evening)

The gala dinner will take place at Villa Sassi. This historic building was built in the 17th century. Villa Sassi has always been frequently visited by princes, dukes, presidents, royal families, and artists. For example, in 1860 it was Camillo Benso, count of Cavour, who strolled through the rooms and among the rows of the park of the residence. In 1952 Villa Sassi was made the living room of bourgeois Turin, loved by intellectuals, politicians, and prominent figures such as Maria Callas, Helmut Newton, and a young lawyer Giovanni Agnelli (principal shareholder of Fiat, now Stellantis). In the 2000s, it not infrequently welcomed big names in sports or internationally renowned artists, such as U2.

For attendees of the conference, a shuttle bus service will be provided from the venue of the conference to Villa Sassi after the last session of the second day. Shuttle buses will be also available for return with additional stops downtown (return time will be announced at the conference).
